Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the poem “Church Going” by Philip Larkin from the perspective of Stylistic Analysis. This analysis uses graphological, grammatical, syntactical, lexical, and phonological patterns. We have also traced the Foregrounding and Cohesive Devices in the poem. The research helps analyze the structure, style, and theme of the poem, as well as the poet’s attitude toward the Church. This work is also believed to divide labor between a stylistic analyst and a literary critic.
